Energy bills for a home or office aren't just related to indoor heating. For many parts of the nation, cooling costs are just as much or more than heating bills. In fact, according to ENERGY STAR®, Americans spend $40 billion on air conditioning (read more). Since this adds up to a significant amount of energy used just to cool structures down, ENERGY STAR has created a program that qualifies roofing products based on their ability to reflect the sun's rays (solar reflectance) and heat (thermal emittance) away from a structure. In doing so, ENERGY STAR compliant roofing products help to reduce the amount of air conditioning needed to cool down a building.
DaVinci Roofscapes is pleased to share that we offer eight ENERGY STAR qualified EcoBlend roofing options in our Slate, Shake, Fancy Shake and Bellaforté product lines. Independent tests of our EcoBlend products have shown that they measured in a range of 0.31 to 0.36 for solar reflectance and in the range of 0.88 to 0.89 for thermal emittance. A Cool Roof is measured by two properties, solar reflectance and thermal emittance. Both properties are measured from 0 to 1. The higher the value, the cooler the roof.
These environmentally friendly, money saving EcoBlend tiles come in Weathered Gray (in Medium, Medium Light, Medium Dark, Light and Dark) and Gray (in Dark, Light and Medium) colors and can be found in all of our product lines. Home and business-owners interested in saving on cooling costs should consider our EcoBlends, especially given the durability and long-lasting nature of a DaVinci roof.
