The restoration and retrofitting of homes and historic structures doesn't have to be associated with a huge carbon footprint. In fact, it can be the perfect occasion for doing things the green way. For an excellent example of a situation where green roofing materials are being used in the restoration of a beautiful beach home, check out the Beach House Retrofit Project in Westchester, New York being done by Absolute Green Homes.
Started in 2011 and expected to be completed sometime this summer, once the restoration of this beautiful old beach house is finished, it will be the first platinum LEED certified home in Westchester county. A big part of that certification is related to our Bellaforté imitation slate being used on the roof of the house. As with our other products, the light weight of Bellaforté tiles make for a low carbon footprint due to reduced transportation and production costs.
