As 2012 draws to a close, what are some of the 2012 DaVinci highlights?
Three major highlights come to mind for me...
- We're Growing! In 2011 we added a new position called "Project Specialist" to give homeowners and commercial building owners a higher level of direct service. In 2012 we added our second Project Specialist and the program has really caught its stride and exceeded our expectations. The "Project Specialist" position requires high levels of product knowledge, market knowledge, and responsiveness. Consequently, it is a highly respected position within the organization. Crystal Smith was our first Project Specialist and essentially created the position. This year Katie Wheeler accepted a promotion to become our second Project Specialist. Both woman are regularly praised by both internal and external customers for the excellent project support they provide.
- Custom Color Blends continue to resonate with customers. DaVinci customers can go to our Color Studio and create a one-of-a-kind color blend at no extra charge. If they are feeling uneasy about making a custom blend choice they can download our FRESH exterior color guide for free. If they are still not sure, they can consult with one of our Project Specialists, or with Kate Smith, a nationally known color expert!
- By far, the biggest highlight in 2012 was the introduction of Bellaforté Shake. The look of the product is absolutely amazing. By utilizing an entirely new product development process with an uncompromising focus on aesthetics, we were able to create a product that truly replicates the look of real cedar shake. Bellaforté Shake is at a price point below its cedar equivalent, but has huge advantages in lifespan, fire resistance, bug resistance, mold and mildew resistance, impact resistance and far greater color stability. We've gotten rave reviews from the field and sales are four times what we had expected!
What was the most exciting thing about the Bellaforté Shake launch?
For me, it's the finished product...the completed install. I love seeing the before and after photos and hearing from homeowners. Many customers have reported numerous inquiries during and after the install and told us that their neighbors will also be using Bellaforté Shake!
The market for building materials has been very challenging for some time, but DaVinci has experienced strong growth. What's the secret?
As a member of the sales team, I'd love to tell you it's all about a brilliant sales strategy or marketing plan, but that's not the case. It's all about the product and continuous innovation with the customer in mind.
What are you most looking forward to in 2013?
Since 2007 we have had to grow in spite of strong economic headwinds. I'm proud to say that we don't spend a lot of time talking about the economy at DaVinci. Our entire company expects to move forward regardless of the economic conditions. However, I must admit that I have always looked forward to seeing how fast our boat could go with a tailwind! All signs point to an improving economy and I believe 2013 is the year we will FEEL economic recovery. I look forward to another great year!
