Hawaiian Paradise

Heaven on earth. That’s where Sid Alpert lives.

With a Hawaiian home located on a golf course overlooking the Maui coast and Pacific Ocean, Alpert lives in a lush tropical setting.

To help combat the intense sunlight received on the Hawaiian islands, Alpert recently re-roofed his home with EcoBlend Single-Width Slate comp

osite roofing tiles in Castle Gray from DaVinci Roofscapes. To enhance the energy-efficiency of his roof, he selected SOLARHIDETM as the underlayment for his environmentally-friendly roof.

Cool Roof Slate

“This roof looks great in our island setting and has terrific qualities,” says Alpert. “I’m exceptionally pleased with the appearance of the DaVinci roof and its many attributes. From being impact- and insect-resistant to having an outstanding warranty, this synthetic slate roofing product is a true winner.”

The EcoBlend roof selected by Alpert is approved by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) to reflect sunlight and heat away from a home. The Castle Gray-EcoBlend features a blend of Light Gray, Medium Gray and Dark Gray imitation slate tiles and meets the stringent requirements to receive an ENERGY STAR® designation. The SOLARHIDE one-step radiant barrier underlayment chosen by Alpert also serves as a vapor barrier. Available from DaVinci, a single layer of SOLARHIDE used in conjunction with DaVinci Shake, Slate and Bellaforté products can help the DaVinci roof attain a Class A fire rating.

SOLARHIDE is produced with woven and non-woven fabrics as well as pure aluminum. The durable underlayment is 100 percent recyclable and exceeds Miami-Dade specifications. The rip-resistant SOLARHIDE product is now available from DaVinci Roofscapes in a 10 square roll (48 inches wide by 250 feet long) with 25 rolls per pallet.

“SOLARHIDE was specifically engineered to reduce heat transfer into roof structures,” says Wayne Foster, CEO of Eco Chief Products, makers of SOLARHIDE. “This product is able to protect the roof deck from heat much better than standard roofing underlayment.”
